With three Southwest Prairie Conference titles in four years, Plainfield North is set to raise the bar to the next level.
That’s because despite the regular season success, the Tigers have yet to win a regional title.
This year, North is hoping for much more than that.
“We’re looking to go past conference,” first-year Tigers coach Tracey Marshall said. “That should be an expectation of any decent program. We’re looking to go Downstate.”
“Our ultimate goal is to go Downstate,” North’s Alex Marszalek said. “With the heart and the talent we have, I think we can do it. We have to pass well and keep down the errors.”
Even without four-year varsity members and Division I recruits Kylee Baker and Sarah Scott gone, the cupboard is far from empty.
North features two more D-I recruits in seniors Kaisley Fisher and Hannah Crippen. They are joined by a couple of underclassmen in sophomore Alyssa Bullock and freshman Dakota Santore.
“We attack on all cylinders,” Marshall said. “We’re very spread out from the outside to the middles. We can attack from anywhere. Right now we need to focus on our passing, which has been a bit of a weakness. But we’re working on it every day in practice.”
“I’m really excited, we have really great talent on the team,” Crippen said. “The underclassmen are really stepping up and it is nice to have such a large, diverse team because we can have anyone step up at any time.” |
